In case you missed it...
Box Women's Network and Medallia hosted an event that highlighted females who have overcome challenges as a result of being the "first" in one or more ways throughout their careers. Panelists included:
- Coral Chung - Founder & CEO of SENREVE
- Meaghan Rose - Founder & CEO of Rocksbox
- June Manely - Founder at Female Founders Faster Forward
- Serena Schuler - Award-winning Writer, Director, and Series creator of Makeshift Society
- Anna Min - Product Leader at Box
These five accomplished women shared their experiences starting their own companies - setbacks, triumphs and lessons learned. Each of the women had unique stories, but there were a few common themes throughout their career paths. First, it is worth building a community to have for support to help you get something off the ground. In Silicon Valley especially, people can be more than willing to share their knowledge and help you or connect you to someone who can help you. Second, listen to people's advice and take in all of the information you can; but, at the end of the day, trust your own judgement and make the decision that is best for you and your company. And lastly, don't be afraid to push the barriers and break the glass ceiling. Anna Min said it best, "We shouldn't be holding ourselves back... We should be pushing ourselves forward."
